Since inception The Muslim Directory has been extremely successful with 70 000 copies distributed freely across South Africa in a period of two years. The book and website has been accepted as a long overdue and essential publication with compliments from all over the country. Our website which complements the book has also proved to be successful national and internationally - currently with over 30-40 thousand hits per month.
What is the South African Muslim Directory and Guide?
This Muslim Directory and Guide is an A5 book which is an annual publication complimented with a website which is available freely to the South African Community. The South African Muslim Directory and Guide (SAMD) is a reference point for any person living in South Africa or any Muslim travelling through, relocating or visiting South Africa.
The book has a collection of almost every South African Muslim service from Masajids and Musallahs to Muslim Educational Institutions to even Burial Services. You will find a host of the different Muslim organisations such as Charity & Relief, Social & Welfare, Theological, Professionals , Da’wah, – just to name a few. There is also handy information like Salaah times for different regions in South Africa, an Islamic calendar, Muslim events, emergency numbers, and not forgetting the various guides like The Hajj Guide, Fasting Guide, Zakaah guide, Funeral Guide, Business Ethics and even a Health Guide and more... There is something for everyone in this book. Even for people who don’t know about Islam or want to understand Islam, there is “Insight into Islam”. And last but not least there is a Business Index.
The purpose of this publication is to improve the social, political and economic state of Muslims in South Africa, by forming a network and making accessible the resources which are available to the South African Muslim community. How to get your organisation or business listed?
Any NGO, NPO, Masajid, organisation, burial society etc which provides a service to the Muslim community can be listed for free. You simply send an email, telephone, fax or even post your details through. (applications can be found at the back of the 2010 edition). You may even submit your details through the - www.islam4u.co.za. Your details may well already be listed, so check the website or the 2011 edition to verify your details . Any registered NPO or NGO who may want to advertise, may do so at half the rate.
Businesses can also list their details for free on the website. All businesses, professionals or tradesmen are listed by being divided into different categories similar to the yellow pages . To be included in the annual publication, there is a small annual fee. There is also an option to advertise in colour within the book. The cost to be listed in this publication is from just R 225.00 annually.
